Bring a real touch of Rwanda to your home with these traditional baskets which are both beautiful and practical.
Across Rwanda you'll see varying sizes and colours of these traditional Sisal Peace Baskets. They are an essential part of the Rwandan culture - woven into the fabric of everyday life as vessels for food and grains, household catchalls and gifts for important ceremonies.
It takes an artisan up to 5 days to handcraft just one basket. They are hand woven from natural sisal fibres. The fibres, once extracted from the leaf, are cleaned, dried, cooked in dye and then woven.
